Flying standby is a term the airline industry uses when a traveler wants to fly on a flight with an open seat. Travelers that usually purchase a ticket the day of will usually have to fly standby if there a limit number of tickets available.

If you find yourself flying standby in the future, there are a few tips you can follow in order to make the trip at the airport a lot easier.

Don't check your luggage

If you're flying standby, don't check in your luggage. A lot of the times an airline will look for people that have carry on only. If you have checked in luggage, it's just going to be a bigger hassle for the airliner to find your luggage and throw it on the plane. If you just bring carry on luggage, you're going to increase your chances of getting on the flight.

Early flights work

If you can get to the airport early, you'll find that earlier flights are usually easier to get on since many people technically don't travel early in the morning. If you find yourself traveling in the afternoon, this is peak traveling time and you may find that the flights are going to be busier compared to the mornings.

Try calling the airline's customer service department

Before you make the trip to the airport, check with the airline before hand and see if there are flights available that you can possibly standby for. Most of the times, the airline will be friendly and give you some flights that you can possibly fly standby on. If you do find that airline you call doesn't have a standby flight available, try and call other airlines to see if they have possible solutions.

Stay at the gate

It's important that you stay near the gate when you're on the standby list. If you tend to walk away during the time when the flight is about to be boarded, you may find that the employee tried to call your name. Sometimes, you're not the only one on the list. This is why it's important that you stay nearby so that if your name is called, you can be there to get on the flight as soon as possible.

You may find that most of these tips will help you in your standby success. If you find that the situation is too stressful, always remember that it's best to be patient. When flights generally board, you will find that most employees are pretty stressful during this time. Always remember to treat others as you want to be treated. Trust me, the employees will keep note of this and will treat you a little nicer than the other customer who is furious with the staff. If you keep your head on your shoulders and have a lot of patience, flying standby should be a piece of pie.

About The Author

Tom Tessin

Don't fly standby and get cheap travel credit cards and more of Tom's work at http://www.findairlinecards.com

Holidays In Orlando Florida

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 218px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_3KDWDzoXVUw/SXjWB8133LI/AAAAAAAAAjw/kllY9bcCvfs/s320/orlando1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5294216690974317746" />
By Terry Hely

A little known citrus farming center called Orlando was paid a visit the 1960s by a gentleman called Walt Disney who started buying land on the outskirts of the town.

The remainder of that story is now history and by 1971, that land had become Walt Disney World. Today, Orlando has a resident population of approximately 200,000 people and visitor numbers swell that figure into the many millions.

The words "Orlando, Florida" immediately conjure up images of fairy tale palaces, thrill rides, theme parks and Disney characters loved the world over. The combination of the "big 3" Orlando entertainment parks of Walt Disney World, Sea World and Universal Studios have no equal anywhere else in the world.

Located on the the outskirts of Orlando, the towns of Lake Buena Vista and Kissimmee are home to most of the major entertainment park attractions. It's no surprise that the accommodation industry generates a major portion of the Orlando economy and that it employs a high percentage of the local population.

The nearby towns of Winter Haven and Altamonte Springs offer a change of pace from the hustle and bustle of Orlando and the parks. Their quiet rural charm and sedate pace provides a glimpse back to the time before the area became the home of the world's best known entertainment parks.

** Orlando Hotels And Resorts

Orlando has more beds to service the tourist industry than any other USA city except for Las Vegas. Orlando is the fifth most popular USA city for travelers visiting from overseas. It is not surprising that the accommodation industry represents a major portion of the Orlando economy and employs a high percentage of the local population.

Visitors are spoiled for choice when it comes to Orlando accommodation and every taste is catered for in every price range. From themed luxury hotels, fantasy resorts, exclusive golf resorts, condominiums, vacation rentals, bed and breakfasts, backpacker hostels to luxury villas, it's all available in and around Orlando.

The parks have several entrances which can be separated from each other by quite a distance, so selecting accommodation near the best gate for you can be an important consideration. Orlando accommodation is often named for proximity to a particular theme park (Universal) or a particular gate (main gate east etc)

** Orlando Transport

At least 35 airlines and just as many charter operators fly into Orlando International Airport with the bulk of these flights being Delta which accounts for around 25% of the flights that originate in approximately 160 different cities.

Other airlines serving Orlando are America West, American, Air Canada, British Airways, Continental, Northwest and US Airways. The Orlando Airport website provides and excellent page about airport shuttle services and city transport.

Amtrak is the USA rail service and it operates to and from Orlando with connections to many of the surrounding towns such as Kissimmee, Sebring, Winter Haven, Sanford and Ocala.

The I Ride trolley service is an excellent way to get around the International Drive Resort precinct. Don’t forget these popular attractions.

Barcelona, located in Spain is one of the most beautiful places to visit. Make sure you see all it has to offer when you are there. From museums to popular beaches, and don’t forget the excellent restaurants, Barcelona promises to deliver excitement, enjoyment, and above all, a time you will never forget!

Barcelona is the capital city of Catalonia and the second most heavily populated city in Spain. It is located in northeastern Spain, approximately 160 KM from the French border. The population is roughly 1,509,500. Barcelona has 53 museums and galleries, 41 theatres, 143 cinemas, 6 beaches, 62 parks and gardens, and well over 2,300 restaurants. Let’s get moving as there is so much to see!

Museums You Don’t Want To Pass By

If you are a fan of Picasso’s, be sure to check out the Picasso Museum which has most of his wonderful works of art from his early days until his final days. Maybe you enjoy sculptures. Then you need to check out the Museum Frederic Marés, which has sculptures from the 12th to 17th century.

The Museum of the History of Barcelona has all you need to know about Barcelona’s history and its popular traditions that are exhibited on three floors. If you’re a history fanatic, like me, this is not one you want to pass by.

Sagrada Familia, one of Antoni Gaudi’s greatest creations, is the most visited attraction, with 2,000,000 visitors each year. The giant temple has been under construction since 1882. The museum you find inside gives the details of the development and offers information about the Sagrada Familia. Most of the tourists who’ve seen the Sagrada Familia have loved the architecture and design of this giant temple.

Attractions for Kids

Do you have little ones with you who are dire need for something “cool” or “fun?” L' Aquarium de Barcelona, or The Barcelona Aquarium, will most certainly fit into those categories. It is the most popular attraction for kids and young ones. The enormous tank is filled with sea creatures that you can find almost anywhere in the world. You can even swim with the sharks! The giant aquarium is located at Port Vell, or Barcelona Port Area.

Right next door to the Aquarium is the IMAX Port Vell Cinema, a large-format theater, which attracts about 1 million visitors each year and is open year-round. This IMAX Cinema was the first integral movie theatre ever built, which means that you can enjoy not one, not two, but three different projections: IMAX, 3D, or Omnimax. The kids can choose to watch 3D films including ones about sharks or space.

Another popular attraction for the little ones, that you may also enjoy, is the Barcelona Zoo. The zoo has a wide variety of animals including the giant anteater, Siamang, and the Indian Elephant. The zoo also has restaurants, shops, ponies, electric cars, and a picnic area. This promises to be a lot of fun for the entire family.

Beaches in Barcelona

Barcelona has 6 beaches, just for you. All of their beaches offer drinks and ice cream, children’s games, lifeguards, hammocks, telephones, and sport areas. Barceloneta Beach, one of Barcelona’s most popular beaches, also has a restaurant and canoes available. Mar Bella Beach, another beach in Barcelona, has an aquatic motorbike that you may use if you choose.

The Magic Fountain of Montjuic should not be missed. The fountain is a light, color, water, and music display that is free to the audience. It is highly recommended to see and is enjoyable for tourists of all ages.

As you can see, Barcelona is a city that has much to offer, but whether you are here for business or pleasure, be sure to try and check some of these wondrous places that can only be found in, well, Barcelona!

About The Author
Monika Szmit writes for Four Corners Hotels, which offers discount hotels around the world. http://www.fourcornershotels.com.

Escape To Aruba a Caribbean Island Ecstasy

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_3KDWDzoXVUw/SWul_chiuoI/AAAAAAAAAf0/alv_iOz8uRg/s320/exterior_hyatt_aruba.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5290504696684001922" />
By Dan Ayala

Aruba, as many travelers will tell you, has to be among the most welcoming places on Earth. Aruba is situated in the deep southern part of the Caribbean. It is renowned for its white, sandy beaches on the western and southern coasts of the island, relatively secluded from fierce ocean currents. It is a Caribbean island 15 miles north of the coast of Venezuela and enjoys a very healthy climate, making it a year-round paradise for residents and visitors alike. Aruba is also known for its excellent shopping and is a great destination choice, ideal for family vacations. This island paradise is also home to some of the world's most popular snorkeling and scuba diving sites, from reefs to wrecks.

Island

The origins of the population and location of the island give Aruba a mixed culture. It is mixture consists of people from South America and Europe, the Far East, and other islands of the Caribbean. The interior of the island features some rolling hills, the better two of which are called Hooiberg at 541 ft and Mount Jamanota, the highest on the island at 617 ft above sea level. Many activities are central to the resort area of the island and are within walking distance. Just outside the bay is one of the best snorkeling spots on the island. This island has a lot to offer, so let the Aruba experience accompany you on your dream vacation while you discover and rediscover all its benefits.

Beaches

Aruba's beaches, and there are an abundance of them, rank among the cleanest, widest, and most striking of the Caribbean. They curve like an Aruban smile along the western shores, gentle and white and brimming with palm trees, slanting gently toward the peaceful crystal clear turquoise of the Caribbean. There are many very secluded small beaches along the northeast coast, a few requiring a 4 wheel drive vehicle to reach. It is here that you may be alone and do as you wish, or course subject to interruption at any time by other vehicles or horseback tours. These gorgeous beaches are all public and access is easy; either through a hotel or by parking directly at the beach. We have found that the best time to see the beauty of the beach is during sunset. You can enjoy it while at your table on the private beach. If your vision of paradise consists of powder-white beaches and incredibly clear azure waters, Aruba is that paradise.

Hotels

Hotels welcome your business, and it shows, from the bend-over-backward service to the never-ending array of services they offer. Aruba hotels have stores to take care of your needs and shopping enjoyment; water sports for the on the go vacationer, a variety of international cuisine to please your taste all in an exotic atmosphere, and not to forget local and international entertainment to liven up the night. Hotels are bountiful for all travelers in this small nation, and Planet Holiday has a range of hotels in Aruba at discount rates for you. Hotels change rates at different times during the year and spontaneously to reflect supply and demand, so a "costly" hotel could be more affordable than a "modest" resort during a seasonal window of opportunity.

Aruba enjoys one of the highest standards of living in the Caribbean expanse and the lowest crime rate; low poverty and unemployment rates are also positives. Aruba has since invested in tourism, which has become its economic foundation. It is well-known for its festivals and events, from weekly interaction welcoming travelers to annual festivals of international renown. It has become an island of distinction and traditions with one outstanding feature: fun in the sun. In my opinion, Aruba is undoubtedly a precious stone deposited in the Caribbean Sea and should be on your list to visit soon.

About The Author

About the Authors: Dan and Janet Ayala are passionate about travel and it shows in their writing. If you do, are you a pet owner who needs to bring your pet along with you? Although most of us leave our pets at home, you may not want to do so or your purpose for travel may be to move, as opposed to taking a fun filled vacation. Regardless of your reasons for wanting or needing to travel with your pet or pets, there are a number of important points that you will need to keep in mind.

The first step in traveling with a pet is to make sure that you can do so. Although a good number of airlines will allow pets on their planes, not all will. You may be in a predicament if you plan to depart from a small airport with only one or two airlines. If they do not accept pets or if their rules and restrictions are too much for you to handle, you will want to examine other nearby airports, especially those that are larger in size.

When traveling by air with your pet or pets, it is important to remember that you will be charged an additional fee. Unfortunately, many first time pet travelers believe that they can use their pets and their pet carriers to count towards as a carry-on bag or a checked bag. This isn’t how it works though. You will, almost always, be charged an extra fee for traveling with a pet. This extra fee will likely depend on the airline in question and well as your pet’s location, such as in the cabin or in the baggage compartment.

That leads to another important point. Even with some of the airlines that allow pets, like cats and dogs, aboard their flights, not all allow pets to be in the cabin with other passengers. This is particularly common on small planes where allergies may be a big concern. If you cannot part with your pet, be sure to search for an airline that will allow you to keep him or her in the cabin with you. With that said, remember that the size of your pet will also play a huge factor in your options.

Regardless of where your pet is stored for the plane ride, you will need to have a pet carrier or crate for them. Many airlines have specific rules and restrictions on what type can be used. Resections often include materials used, as well as size. Most will provide you with that information when asked. Speaking of pet crates and carriers, it is important to make sure that you give your pet enough room to stand and move around a little bit. In fact, most airlines will refuse to transport pets that they feel are unsafe from small pet crates and carriers.

It is also important to make sure that you get your pet checked by their vet. You will want to make sure that your pet has all required vaccinations and that they are fit for travel. Also, all airlines require that you receive a health certificate, which will state that your pet is healthy and safe for travel.

The above mentioned points are just a few of the many that you will want to take into consideration when traveling with a pet. Added tips include booking direct flights, making sure your pet’s collar is marked with the proper identification, as well as their pet carrier.

For more tips on traveling by air, such as traveling with children, finding great deal, traveling last minute and over 25 other articles on how to travel by air go to:

http://millionairemaker-airtravel.blogspot.com

Ray Welds
http://www.wealthyislander.com

Welcome To Miami

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_3KDWDzoXVUw/SWY69-BS_OI/AAAAAAAAAe0/1enh1OKg2Bk/s400/miami1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5288979648688094434" />

By Terry Hely

Miami is a sub-tropical city, climatically very different from most places in the USA. The city is a cosmopolitan playground that attracts more visitors than any other US destination.

Miami appeals to holiday makers wanting warm sun, clean sandy beaches, a laid back lifestyle, sophisticated entertainment in clubs and bars and a mix of art, music and international cuisines.

Travelers visiting Miami may actually spend their time in Miami Beach, a separate municipality situated 4 miles (6 km) across Biscayne Bay from downtown Miami. The combined greater Miami area includes several ethnic neighborhoods such as Little Havana and Little Haiti.

The population of the Greater Miami Area is a 50% mix of assorted Hispanic and the diverse cultural mix is evident in Latin American languages, cuisine and music throughout the city and. Dining in Miami offers the opportunity to visit a different ethnic restaurant every night and enjoy diverse international cuisines.

Once upon a time, Miami attracted mostly retirees turning their backs on snowy, colder climates but nowadays it attracts the ultra-chic glitterati, cashed up yuppies, the boating and yachting fraternity and Cuban immigrants.

** Miami Vacation Attractions

Greater Miami is a great base for access to several major Florida holiday attractions. The northern tip of the Florida Keys is just off shore, the Everglades are just a short distance inland and the affluent enclaves of Palm Beach and Boca Roton are just a short distance along the coast.

The Miami Beach Promenade, aka South Beach, is a favorite spot for cyclists, skaters, joggers and skateboarders. This is the most instantly recognized beach front location in existence and the place to be seen if appearances are important.

Many of the early Miami buildings from the early 1900's have been restored. A walking tour around the South Beach precinct is recommended to see the spectacular rejuvenation of the 1920's buildings in the Art Deco Historic District.

Miami boasts fine museums, galleries, historic gardens, zoos, sports stadiums, spring fed natural pools and of course, the ever present golf courses. Greater Miami has lots to brag about when it comes to world class golf courses and is home to some of the most testing courses in the world.

** Miami Vacation Cruises

The busiest cruise ship center of any city in the USA is the Port of Miami with holiday cruises to the Caribbean and Latin America making up the bulk of these cruises, but there are also cruises to all parts of the world.

Cruises are usually well equipped for gambling and casinos open as soon as the ship passes into international waters. Non stop food, games, movies and onboard activities ensure guests are always entertained and well fed.

** Miami Hotels & Resorts

Miami visitors are offered a range of hotels, resorts and vacation rentals to satisfy all tastes and budgets. There's accommodation and prices to suit everyone, ranging from the restored boutique hotels in the Art Deco and South Beach district, modern glass and chrome high rise hotels, budget hostels, beach front condos and villas, serviced apartments, inns and guesthouses... it's your choice.

** Miami Vacation Transport

Miami International Airport is one of the major airports in the USA, and a major hub city for American Airlines. Major domestic airlines such as Delta, Northwest/KLM, United and US Airways and Continental all servive Miami as well as several economy carriers.

There are two Amtrak trains that run daily from New York down to Miami and the travel time is approximately 27 hours.

The Metro-Dade Transit Agency runs two Miami rail systems, one being Metrorail which is a modern elevated commuter train that connects downtown Miami and the southern suburbs. Metromover is an elevated line looping the downtown precinct and connecting with many of the important attractions, shopping and business districts.

Tri Rail is the south Florida commuter train service that connects Miami with North Palm Beach and all centers in between.

Copyright (c) 2008 Terry Hely

About The Author

Terry Hely specializes in travel destination guides as planning resources for holiday makers. This is far from ideal when it comes to making a claim because pleading ignorance is never a strong position to come from. But you can help yourself if you follow a few simple rules:

# Always get a report from an official source within 24 hours if something goes wrong. A police report for theft, a tour operator’s reports for baggage delay and loss, an airline letter if you suffer travel delay and a Property Irregularity Report before you leave the airport if your luggage is lost or delayed. Without these, you will find that insurers will not readily settle your claim.

# Know what valuables you are taking with you and take extra care of them. Valuables will be defined in your policy but generally includes all jewellery, mobile phones, computer games and equipment and cameras. Add to this list the personal money you take with you. By extra care, we mean you should lock them away in a safe in your room or carry them with you. They should never be left unattended and never in checked in baggage otherwise this will invalidate a claim.

# Keep receipts. Not only will this help to substantiate your claim but you are more likely to get close to value of the lost items back, subject to wear and tear. If no receipt is provided then the maximum amount that will be paid back will be capped at a low level. If several unreceipted items are claimed then this will also raise suspicions that the claim is fraudulent and could be investigated.

# Do call the Medical Assistance line if you have to go into hospital abroad or need medical treatment that could be costly. It is worthwhile doing this for anything that could be above £250. Once this is on record, you are generally well covered up to the agreed amounts.

# And finally, whilst this guidance is for travel insurance policies, many people will have a household policy in force that should cover ‘all risks’ up to a set value and this could also be used for a claims for personal belongings lost or stolen whilst on holiday but do check the small print again to see what exclusions apply.

About The Author

Keith McGregor is a partner of Strawberrysoup, a web design agency with offices in Chichester and Bournemouth. Its very important to know which packages are worth the money. Its also important to know which trips are popular if you want to be where the action is.

Price is the main factor for spring break vacations. Most students can't afford to pay $1000 for spring break. If you take this into consideration, you can eliminate many packages right off the bat. Stay in the sub $500 category if you want to be with the majority.

Try to concentrate on the key elements of each package. Don't be hypnotized by free food and drink promotions and other incentives that typically turn out to be worthless. The internet is full of travel agencies that offer this type of incentive. They usually end up being available to anyone at the destination. Many businesses and hotels offer 2 for 1 drinks specials and free food (such as buffalo wings) during the month of March. This type of thing is available to anyone, its not exclusive to one package.

Look for packages that offer more social interaction. Flight packages are expensive, plus its hard to move around and talk to your friends. Spring break cruises offer more freedom, and the party starts when you board the ship. This is not the case with flight packages. The party starts when you arrive at the hotel with a flight package. Many college spring break students are starting to realize they can have just as much fun traveling to the destination.

Spring break 2009 can be your best ever. Do your homework and find the best package for you and your group.

Ted Carroll is the author of this article.http://www.BahamaSun.com is a great source for spring break 2009

Walt Disney World Deals - Make Your Disney Trip Affordable & the Time of Your Life

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 248px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_3KDWDzoXVUw/SV2y8iJgm2I/AAAAAAAAAcU/aacK4qtgfjc/s320/disney-castle1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5286578290631416674" />
By Carrie Simpsons

You must go to Walt Disney World if you have never been. If you have been you are probably itching to go back. It is the perfect combination of entertainment for adults and children. It is the perfect family vacation, but it is also not cheap. However, you can get Walt Disney World deals that will save you hundreds.

To get all the possible deals and save the most money you will have to spend a few dollars to get a top Disney saving guide. However, you can get this type of guide right online so you can download it instantly and you will have it in your hands today instead of waiting for it to be shipped. Here are a few tips to help you in the meantime

1. Use Timeshares to save

There are two main ways to use the wonderful Timeshare people to save on your Disney trip. You can use them to get a very much discounted stay at their resort. You can also wait until you get there to take a tour and save on your actual Disney tickets. This alone can save you a couple hundred dollars for a couple of hours of your time.

2. Stay off Disney and save

You can stay at a very nice hotel for very cheap off of Disney. The hotels on Disney are expensive and so are the restaurants around Disney. However, if you stay off Disney it will be less expensive and so will the restaurants.

3. Use the coupon guides

If you want the best Walt Disney World deals, then you have to get the online guide, but you can also use the coupon books that are all over Orlando when you get there. They will save you on everything from entertainment, food, and souvenirs, to anything else you can think of. This is a great way to save $50 - $100 while you are in Orlando.

Click Here right now to Save hundreds on your next Disney World Vacation!

Orlando, Florida - The Areas and Best Locations to Stay in Orlando

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 210px; height: 158px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_3KDWDzoXVUw/SV2tLoK-muI/AAAAAAAAAcM/RjMu-ZyF1ho/s400/crescent+palace_326_1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5286571952876460770" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 210px; height: 158px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_3KDWDzoXVUw/SV2tGjWMPPI/AAAAAAAAAcE/rAnrQcgcHU4/s400/crescent+palace_326_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5286571865681968370" />
By Orson Johnson

Often called the Oasis of Entertainment, it is rather impossible to just pin down one specific area when discussing the areas and best locations to stay in Orlando, Florida. Visitors can take their pick of at least 7 specific locations. And when used as a personal base-of-operations, each of these areas will put you in close proximity to a variety of recreational spots, theme parks and lodging options that ensures your stay or vacation to Orlando, Florida will be fun and memorable.

Lake Buena Vista: This is the largest and newest location for places to stay in Orlando County and is professionally managed by the Walt Disney Corporation. A wide range of hotels that are generally affiliated with national or regional hotel chains are the most wide-spread accommodation options of vacationers. Lake Buena Vista is one of the areas and best locations to stay in Orlando simply because it is located near Walt Disney World in addition to the areas close proximity to great shopping and dining.

Disney World's Resort Properties: For the true Disney fan or the family that enjoys the Magic Kingdom so much they want to own property right in or near the park, this is the place for you! For vacationers, there is the choice of staying in one of the many hotels within the confines of the Magic Kingdom. Staying here, visitors will never be far from the fun thanks to free shuttle bus service.

Kissimmee area: The town of Kissimmee is popular not only for its relaxed atmosphere but also for its historical importance (one of Florida's oldest towns) and great leisure activities like its championship golf courses and family activity centers. Also, finding accommodation options here should not be a problem.

Universal Studios Area: This area is rich in attractions but not nearly as rich in lodging options. Vacationers should be prepared to spend as there some truly high-priced hotels in this neck of the woods. Other accommodation options are just as expensive but the advantage is that you get to stay near a majority of family-attractions.

Sea World (International Drive) Area: The International Drive area near Sea World is a favourite of many families - especially those with young kids. Affordable lodging options can be found a little bit off the beaten path.

Orlando County Convention Center Area: Almost in Sea World's backyard, the Convention Center area is minutes away from the Magic Kingdom and is popular for that reason alone. Great shopping is another attraction as there are many "Outlet" malls nearby.

Remember, location is everything and the greater Orlando area offers areas that allow for every taste and budget.

Orson Johnson writes for Holiday Velvet, a website providing Orlando accommodation rentals and Florida vacation Rentals.

Women's Travel

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 269px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_3KDWDzoXVUw/SVvyiFSzM1I/AAAAAAAAAbk/NGUww2bf0CI/s400/women_traveling1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5286085254999913298" />
By Karen Cooke

Women travelling alone no longer need to feel limited by where they can go by themselves - and safely. The continent continues to attract hundreds of thousands of tourists annually, who visit its lovely white-sand beaches, stunning natural landscapes, exciting adventure destinations, exotic food and cultural amenities, as well as first-class tourist accommodations. Those who wish to visit this lovely continent may do so by acquiring an Australian Tourist Visa, and one could get this either by asking for help from a local travel agent, or by personally visiting the nearest Australian Visa center. You may also avail of this entry requirement online, by logging on to the official Australian Visa online website.

Australia is a continent with a very low population density. It has a combined population of around only 21.3 million, with most of the population living around the state capitals of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, as well as in Canberra. Recently, immigration has been a vital factor in the nation's development. Around six million immigrants from different corners of the planet have come to call this land home, along with 517,000 Aborigines, who are the nation's biggest minority group. Whites account for an estimated 95% of the population, and are generally of British descent. It is also noted for having one of the world's highest living standards. This is also of unique and contrasting patterns. While lush vegetation ranges from the rain forests of the far north, it's as dry and sandy as it gets in the deserts and steppes of the vast interior, also known as the Outback. The continent is also famous for being the home of around 130 species of marsupials like koalas, kangaroos, and wombats.

Applying for an Australian tourist visa could be done by mail as well as on the internet. The fees or applicable charges may differ when applying either by mail, online or by going direct to an Australian consular office. The most common visa issued by Australian immigration authorities, is the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) visa, which lasts for up to 3 months, as well as a tourist visa that allows the visitor to stay up to 12 months. Once you fill up an application form and pay the necessary fees, you should now be able to acquire the tourist visa, once it's approved. Ensure that you print all the documents you receive, and bring this along with your other pertinent travel papers. Before getting a visa, make sure that your current passport is valid for at least 6 months from the date of your departure, to prevent you from being barred by Immigration officers, as well as prepare your passport requirements in advance with your local or international carrier when booking for a flight to the Land Down Under.

In addition, tourists are also advised to get their own health insurance coverage before visiting Australia, as most visitors will not be covered by the country's universal health care program, and medical care expenses are high here as well. For those who also come and go frequently, its advisable to get a multiple-entry visa, as this will enable visitors to enter and exit the Australian border more than once. Overseas students who do not plan on studying longer than 3 months may also use tourist visas to achieve this objective. Visa applications from the United States are rarely denied; however you need to apply early for your visa, or ask your travel agent to do this, because you may need extra time to appeal should your initial visa application be rejected.

Jo is a content writer for 'Visas for Australia' (http://www.visasforaustralia.co.uk), one of the world's leading visa specialist that deals with Australian tourist visas, Australian business visas and Australian working holiday visas. George Washington, the nation's first president and figure in which the city was named after, chose the land where the city would originate. The area adjoining the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers was chosen because it was already a bustling port for tobacco and wheat shippers. More importantly, it was an area that was centrally located between the North and the South. Revel in the genius of Shakespeare through more than 100 magnificent presentations during this unprecedented festival in Washington. An often overlooked fact about the state of Washington is that while its western half experiences record-breaking rainfall each year, its eastern half is high-desert country. The magnificent Cascade Ranges separate the state into these two extremes.

Washington D.C. is an amazing reflection of the nation it represents. As the capital city of a country, which is the biggest "melting pot" in the world, it truly does offer visitors a glimpse of American culture and subcultures at their finest.

Leaders from all over the world convene in this city to discuss business and politics, as well as to socialize. As a result, you can find activities, restaurants, and attractions that not only provide insight and education to those who visit, but also offer a cultural experience unlike any other. Discover a variety of dining options that satisfies tastes across all palates. Where else can you sample Ethiopian cuisine, catch a Washington Nationals baseball game, and walk along the Potomac while the cherry blossoms are in bloom, all in one afternoon?

Get more information on Washington DC at Washington DC Travel Guide

Get More information on Sports Travel at Sports Travel Directory

The Five Best Beaches of the Dominican Republic

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_3KDWDzoXVUw/SU3mKXgl0CI/AAAAAAAAAU8/wHlZhXNKmzM/s320/dr_beach2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5282131003759251490" />

By Paul Michael Collins

Make the Most of Your Caribbean Trip

For sun-worshippers and beach-lovers, not much can compare with a week or two's holiday in the Caribbean. But even here, in this tropical Garden of Eden, the Dominican Republic is exceptional. And what makes it so special is the 1,000 miles of beaches that line its shores. Gorgeous strips of blindingly white sand, sparkling cobalt blue waters... It's not so much a holiday, as a trip to paradise!

So without further ado, here are the five best beaches of the Dominican Republic:

Bayahibe

On the south coast of the Dominican Republic, lavish hotel complexes jostle for the best access to Bayahibe's beach - one of the best beaches in the whole of the Caribbean. As well as the hotels, there's a charming little fishing village nearby, and a number of natural parks.

Offshore, beyond the totally transparent water flashing with tiny fish, a couple of islands complete a wonderful scene.

Sosua

On the north coast of the island, despite being one of the very best beaches in the Dominican Republic, Sosua doesn't suffer from the over-development you can find elsewhere in the Caribbean. With fewer tourists, it's got a lively local feel to it.

Juan Dolio/Santo Domingo

There's nothing like lying on the beach all day and then having access to all the restaurants and lively nightlife that a city can offer. Good city beaches are hard to come by, though, and that (at just 25km from the capital of Santo Domingo) is what makes the beach of Juan Dolio so special.

Las Minitas/La Romana

Between Santo Domingo and Bayahibe, whichever way you look at it, Las Minitas is a great beach. Not far from La Romana, it conveniently combines great sand with some nice bars and restaurants, and a variety of water sports options.

Cap Cana/Punta Cana

The beach of Cap Cana at Punta Cana is quickly becoming one of the most fashionable enclaves in the whole of the Caribbean. As broad as it is long, swaying coco palms rise languorously out of the white sand, and provide shade from the gloriously hot sun.

As is the case throughout much of the rest of the island, 'sights' are few and far between. Which means there's little else to do but lie back in the sun (or in the cooling shade of a palm tree, perhaps) and take in the idyllic scene that's laid out in front of you.

Paul Collins is a UK-based travel writer who specializes in the Caribbean, the Canary Islands and Tunisia. African, Haitian, French and Spanish cultures weave together to make a tapestry of beauty, grace and above all azure waters, soft sand beaches and fun in the sun for everyone.

When Christopher Columbus first set foot on this gorgeous Caribbean island, he could only describe it as a beautiful island paradise with high forested mountains and large river valleys.î Not much has changed since 1492 in the Dominican Republic. It still beckons visitors that want a tropical holiday filled with exquisite cuisine, entertainment and sightseeing adventures along with a rich culture in which they can immerse themselves.

Regions of The Dominican Republic

Six regions with distinct environments will refresh mind, body and soul. Your senses will soar as you discover an arid desert, pristine beaches, colorful coral reefs, thriving jungles, a pine forest and looming mountains. All coexist in harmony in the magical land called The Dominican Republic.

The central region is said to have some of the most fertile and green lands in the country. La Vega and Santiago are two of the towns and the Cordillera Central mountain range competes with the lush Cibao Valley for beauty. Nature lovers, adventurers and cigar aficionados are in their element in this region.

The north Coast also referred to as the Amber Coast or the Discovery Coast. This is the region where Columbusí crew first landed. Sosua, Cabarete and Puerto Plata are cities that can be found in this area. Verdant jungles, golden beaches and crystal blue waters make it the countryís most multi-faceted playground. The city hosts some of the most famous casino hotels in the United States. Large amounts of money change hands in these casinos. Cost of living for a tourist can become very high in this city. But also, there are tourist facilities in the city that are unbelievably cheap. Here are some tips to enjoy the charm and specialties of Las Vegas without wasting much money.

The first thing one should do to save money when touring Las Vegas is to have some discount coupons to be used on restaurants and motels. There are several websites that provide free coupons. Some websites offer discount coupons for a nominal charge. One can find such websites through a search on Google using simple keywords like "discount coupons for Las Vegas." One has to check also for discount coupons in leading travel magazines. Almost all hotels in the city have an adjoining casino. A majority of hotels in the city also have some kind of attraction along with them. Golf clubs, amusement parks, or water fountains are the most popular attractions. Enjoying these attractions are free for people staying in the hotels that arrange these facilities. Bellagio Fountains and Bellagio Gardens are free not only for people staying in Bellagio hotel but also for the passerby and other onlookers. The other free attractions include Caesars Palace Statues, Artwork at the Venetian Hotel, Lion Habitat at MGM Grand, White Lions and Shark Tank at the Mirage, and Circus performance at a hotel called Circus Circus.

There are comparatively cheap hotels in Las Vegas. One should remember that the hotel rates are dynamic. That means the rates keep changing with the availability factor. Demand drives the price up. During weekends and holidays people come to Las Vegas from all corners. So there will be a heavy rush and the hotel prices will be high. But on weekdays, especially during mid-week, there will be fewer numbers of people visiting the city and as a result, the rates of accommodation will be lower. The main area of Las Vegas, the heart of the city, is known as the Strip. Hotels on the Strip are naturally costlier. But if you choose hotels in downtown, which charge slightly lower rates, you may have to spend more money for hiring cabs and taxis. The restaurants in the town are generally expensive. But one can find some inexpensive restaurants on the Strip and plenty of such restaurants off it. But if you consider the time spent for reaching the downtown restaurant and travel charges are worth the discount, then it is better you go for it.

Robert Grazian is an accomplished niche website developer and author.

To learn more about Las Vegas visit Hottest Las Vegas Entertainment for current articles and discussions.

Spring Break 2009 - Cheap Spring Break Packages

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 149px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_3KDWDzoXVUw/SUUylIcZ4qI/AAAAAAAAASU/q5MZXUhTnk4/s200/SpringBreakDestinations.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5279681751664943778" />
By Lincoln Davis

Getting a cheap trip for spring break 2009 can often be linked to how early you reserve the package. These types of trips are promotion and incentive based unlike summer travel. This means good news for the college student since they can save alot of money by booking early. Booking early for spring break typically refers to six months prior. Only New Years has a larger pre-book window. You will notice that some agencies offer free summer trips and other incentives to those students that book prior to a certain date for spring break. Do not wait until the law of supply and demand kicks in. If you do, you will probably only receive the package you booked, and not all the perks and additional trips given to those that booked early.

Another way to secure a cheap spring break trip is to book in large numbers. If you organize a group of twelve or more, you will often receive a group discount. This discount would only apply to the group leader, but that person can usually divide it with the entire group. This allows everyone to receive a discount on their purchase price. Once again, group discounts only apply when you book spring break trips early. Their is no reason to offer group discounts in December, January, and beyond because most agencies are booking hundreds of students during this time period.

Next, consider an all inclusive spring break package. They may seem more expensive at first, but they typically save everyone alot of money in the long run, especially when it comes to bar tabs. You will save money on the extra things when it comes to an all inclusive trip. Alcoholic drinks, food, banana boat rides, scuba and snorkel rentals, parasailing, and parties(just to name a few) can all be included in the price of the vacation. If you are going to do these things, it's often better to choose this type of vacation package.

Last, don't be persuaded to buy travel insurance and other additional features that can inflate the per person price for everyone in your group. Most agencies have their own security features in place to offset a problem. Additional insurance is typically not needed since most agencies will refund all or part of your initial payment if you cancel the package prior to a certain date. If the flight or cruise is cancelled then you would obviously get your money back as well.

Spring break 2009 does not need to be a drain on your bank account. Do your research and find cheap spring break vacations that suit your budget and the budget of your friends. Try to book spring break trips in October for the following year. This is typically the time when most agencies start their promotions. This will ensure you get a room at the most popular hotels. It will also ensure you take advantage of all the perks and promotions available.

Licoln Davis is the author of this article. http://www.BahamaSun.com is a great source for spring break 2009.

Holidaying in Dubai

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_3KDWDzoXVUw/SUSrRYoT6DI/AAAAAAAAASM/7ZPVuFQsLMI/s200/Grand-Hyatt-Dubai-Hotel.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5279532978342717490" />

By David Collins

Dubai, playground of the millionaires, is the most populous of the United Arab Emirates and a city that has grown considerably due to tourism. Each year, thousands of tourists are drawn to the white sandy beaches and vast range of boutiques and market stalls that Dubai has to offer.

Throughout the years Dubai has become more tourist-orientated, with a number of luxury hotels and beach villas taking their place amongst the desert sands, offering a wide range of activities and the chance to experience the sights, sounds and flavours of the Middle East.

Boasting some of the world's tallest buildings - including the Burj Al Arab, the tallest hotel in the world - and a vast coastline with man-made islands that give you some privacy in paradise, Dubai is a haven for those who have money to spend, taking advantage of cheap flights to visit the resorts in the desert.

The city lies within the Arabian desert, with a vast coastline that offers opportunities for some delightful diving excursions in the Arabian Sea. The warm climate and Indian Ocean currents have lead to the forming of vast and colourful coral reefs, offering divers and snorkellers alike a chance to observe sharks and rays in their natural habitat.

If you'd rather ride the waves than take the plunge, there are a number of watersports centres along the coastline, offering the chance to jet-ski or parasail on the clear blue ocean. There are a number of water parks available for family excursions, as well as number of extreme sports clubs that offer activities such as skydiving. Dubai has also become a popular destination for those looking to take in a round of golf, with more lush green courses having sprung up in recent years.

As you'd expect from a city in the middle of the desert, the weather is perfect for those who are looking to catch a tan, but there's a lot more to Dubai than the beach resorts and gold shops. For those looking to cool off a little, the Dubai Ski Centre offers the chance to chill out and go skiing, in the middle of a desert? Sounds bizarre, but it certainly attracts a lot of tourists to the region each year. Offering luxuries like limousine service, private transfer for all guests via private golf cart, private butler service and just about anything else that is being associated with vanity. These days, savvy and wealthy globetrotters, demand for caviar, personal butlers and Bentley and more tasty accommodation morsels as they prefer to travel (and rest) in style when it comes to bedding heads for the night. Seven star hotels accomplish all this.

There is an official body with standard criteria for classifying hotels in some countries. While most countries check their hotel rating systems at five, very few use six or seven star ratings, claiming to be the most beautiful and prestigious hotels in the world. At present there is only one seven star hotel in the world, though there are a few more under construction. Start planning your vacations now and be the first to see some of the amazing architectural wonders.

The Burj- Al- Arab in Dubai, the only Seven Star hotel began in 1994 and was modeled after the sail of a famous Arabian ship. The appearance was created by using Teflon-coated fiberglass and white materials that resemble a mast when viewed from a distance. The hotel is an architectural masterpiece. The foundation was constructed on an artificial island and the hotel is home to the world's tallest atrium. While the Burj- Al- Arab likes to believe it is the world's only seven-star hotel, it is officially known as a five-star deluxe hotel on the standard star system.

The Burj Al Arab is the only, "Seven star" hotel bearing a resemblance to a billowing sail, the hotel ascends to a height of 321 meters, overlooking the Dubai coastline. It is an unforgettable sight at night, surrounded by maneuvered color sculptures of water and fire. This all-suite hotel with the floor to ceiling glass windows viewing breathtaking Arabian Gulf reflects the finest that the world has to offer.

Designed to offer most comfort, unique service levels with chauffeur driven Rolls Royce, discreet in-suite check in, private reception desk on every floor and a brigade of highly trained butlers who provide around-the-clock attention, you can be assured of a highly personalized service throughout your stay. The hotel offers the highest levels of personalized service in the most luxurious surroundings imaginable, while the butler will ensure that every little need is met.

Surrounded by white beaches and the blue waters of the Arabian Gulf, one can choose from a variety of activities while staying at Burj-Al-Arab. Alternatively, there are unlimited amenities for recreation and entertainment; be it spacious airy gymnasium boasting the very latest in equipment and with personal trainers on hand or unlimited complimentary access to Wild Wadi Water Park for water sports, accessible via a complimentary buggy drive or short walk.

Pankaj Gupta Highly Recommends that you visit http://www.dubaishortstay.com for more information on Dubai Apartments.

Chartering an Airplane - The 5 Top Benefits

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_3KDWDzoXVUw/SUSXNbbwm9I/AAAAAAAAAR0/n8g3nKLa7KU/s200/private_jet1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5279510920143346642" />
By Rufus Steele

The benefits of chartering an airplane far outweigh any cons in the majority of cases. Some people will argue that it's expensive, or excessive, or unnecessary. But I hope that the information and ideas suggested in this article show you why, in fact, it is very necessary!

The benefits of chartering an airplane include things such as privacy, security, comfort and flexibility. Let's look at a few of those a little more closely.

Privacy

There are no screaming children, coughing and hacking neighbors, overtly happy people heading off on holiday with their friends and all talking too loudly. No scrambling to your seat and getting up and down for others if you are unlucky enough to end up with an aisle seat, no old lady next to you hogging your elbow room.

But more importantly for business users or others who want to have an uninterrupted conversation without fearing of being overheard, you are free to discuss business or knock about a few ideas with your significant other with no embarrassing repercussions. Sensitive business can be discussed with no fear of leaks or competitors overhearing and no fears of sensitive corporate information being heard by all and sundry. In some industries - this is a serious consideration that can make travel time a complete waste of time as far as working goes.

Luxury

Private air charter can be the epitome of luxury and class. Think of commercial air flights as being a run of the mill taxi cab, and a private charter jet as a plush stretch limo. Some are even more luxurious than a limo! Believe it or not (and it does take some believing, I grant you!) but it is quite possible to find things such as living suites, gyms, spa's and sauna's, full double bedrooms and other things that the 'filthy' rich like to spoil themselves with being built into private jets more and more every day.

Granted, they have to be built into the larger jets as opposed to the small to mid size airplanes but to some - buying a 747 and kitting it out to their specification is not a problem at all.

Have to say - I'm unlikely to ever see one of those from the inside, can't quite stretch to renting one of those jets.

Flexibility

Not only can you avoid border hassles when flying internationally, you can generally charter a private jet with very little notice. It's not unknown for jets to be available to rent in an hour. (Special cases here mark you - don't bank on this speed of response as being the norm or the doable in every case!)

Private airplane charter services do not tend to own a whole fleet - they, like everyone else, arrange a jet for you from 'A N Other' company or owner. They work as the middle man between you and the owner, taking care of your arrangements and requirements. They give you flexibility that you do not normally have when it comes to renting a plane.

This is part of the beauty of flying a private charter - it can free you from dependence on travel agencies and commercial air companies. Not to mention you get to avoid those long, long and nasty lines for boarding, and those little extras we have to endure now, things like taking off your shoes and having your bags extensively searched and not being able to take bottle of drink through security. (I'm seriously miffed at that one - how much % mark up did the shops on the other side of security add to the price when THAT rule came into play!?) Flying private can free you from all of those little inconveniences. Hell, wander onto your charter plane with a Jack Daniels and coke in your hand and see if anyone says anything - apart from suggesting you put it down whilst trying to put your seatbelt on!

Comfort

Flying private isn't just about reaching your destination. It is also primarily about enjoying your traveling experience, and being comfortable on the journey. I'll make you a promise right here and now - the first time you bite the bullet and decide to charter a private flight will be an unforgettable trip for you, something that you will both think back on with great memories as well as talk about often! It just makes traveling fun again!

One on One service, comfy seats with leg, knee and elbow room, quiet and calm environment and no waiting for whatever you want (apart from the preparation time that is!). Sheer comfort and luxury.

Image

Another of the great benefits to chartering an airplane is the impression you can make on others.

Not only can you impress clients, you can also pamper employees and give them incentive to work all the harder for you. You can highlight yourself as being different to clients, and build closer relationships by inviting them on a private charted business trip overseas with you.

It is just an all around excellent way to travel, and given the choice why would you want to fly in that commercial taxi when you can fly in that luxurious limo instead?

As you can hopefully see there are many benefits to chartering an airplane, including several possibly not mentioned here that you may not be aware of that are unique to you. Why not add them to this site about airplane charters at http://www.jet-rentals.info

Attractions in Cancun - Tourism in Cancun Explained

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_3KDWDzoXVUw/SULPSC_E05I/AAAAAAAAARs/8jcU2F0b6l4/s200/800px-Cancun_Beach.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5279009622177665938" />
By Huzaili Aris

Nestled in the base of Mexico, situated in the state of Quintana Roo and lying on the coast is the flourishing tourism city of Cancun with a population of some 600, 000. This lovely city began its tourism trade in the 1970's and was further developed by American investors during the 1980's. It was then developed as a tourism destination and now boasts a flourishing tourism community. Many people from North America now call Cancun home in its idealistic tropical paradise settings. Hurricane Wilma extensively devastated the region in 2005 and a great deal of restoration as occurred in the aftermath to lift the pristine shorelines to their original beauty and the beaches are now much wider as a result.

The Cancun economy relies very heavily on tourism and is the number one source of revenue for the region. You will find the hotel area as being coastal in its location and takes on the appearance of the number seven if viewed from an aerial aspect. Within this shape is Nichupte Lagoon, being supplied by freshwater and offers many fun filled water based sports activities with equipment being available by day hire to all guests. Nightlife is available to those who wish to take in the party atmosphere with a large variety of places to entertain you.

To get to the older side of Cancun take one of the two bridges available to you to get across to the city itself and explore the wonders available to you in a more cultural setting, this area is less affect by tourism so you can explore the markets and take in the more "natural" ambiance of the older part of the city. You will discover here that nothing much has altered and you will be able to experience the people and cultures first hand. Then you can get a feel for the cultural flavor of this remarkable area.

You will find traditional foods to sample at a reasonably low cost, take your pick from the available bars, restaurants and local eateries. Bull fights put on daily show for your excitement and entertainment, and you will find less expensive shopping available to you in the older part of town.

Across the Yucatan peninsula you can explore and learn firsthand information regarding the ancient Mayan civilization and culture that once thrived here so long ago. The ruins of El Ray are located within the Hotel Zone with El Meco; a much more substantial site to be found on the mainland just outside the city limits on the road to Punta Sam. While just to the north of the city a more larger and interesting site exists for exploration the lives of these amazing people. If you are interested in day tripping, the lost city of Uxmal is recommended or perhaps even Xel-Ha.

Incorporated in the natural reserves are Xel_Ha and Xcaret, these are probably the most visited sites for tourists. Here you can explore and take in the natural sites while taking advantage of the available amenities in the shape of swimming with dolphins and exploring the local marine life. These two sites also offer a wondrous and natural eco-tourism with jungles and beautifully stretching sparkling beaches and awe inspiring coastlines. Set yourself plenty of time to take in the sites of this area and you will not be disappointed.

This wonderful and diverse tourism destination will remain high on the list of must-see and as long as care is taken to preserve the natural wonders of this place, with humans working with nature it will remain a highly visited area with beautifully stretching coastlines and pristine beaches coupled with the tranquil blue waters of the Caribbean. I've taken on the difficult and controversial task of narrowing the list down to a top 5 cities you should see on a luxury holiday in France.

Nancy

Nancy is a must visit on a holiday in France mainly because it carries an air of dignity and refinement rarely found in cities in England. As well as some lovely architecture and some fascinating museums, the city offers a sophisticated feel all the way to its shops which feel almost designed for window shopping.

Avignon

If you're looking to explore Provence, there's only one choice of where to book a hotel in France. Avignon is an old graceful city, full of jaw dropping art and architecture. The experience begins from the approach, when you take in the wonderfully preserved stone ramparts which circle the city, and won't end until you've seen the famous bridge (the Pond d'Avignon), the medieval fortress and the Palais des Papes (the papal palace). But perhaps the ultimate pleasure is people watching - now a thriving student city, it almost rivals Paris as a place to sit and watch the world go by. A must on any luxury holiday in France.

Lyon

When you're faced with a city the size of Lyon, you can be sure there's a huge amount of things to do to appeal to all tastes, and the city does not disappoint. As France's second largest conurbation, it's no surprise to see that the city contains outstanding art galleries and museums, a thriving nightlife, fantastic shipping and plenty of gourmet evenings out. If this all sounds too fast paced, there's also the historic old town, which has enough cultural significance to be designated a UNESCO heritage site. Lyon is essential for someone looking to experience big city life outside of the capital on their luxury holiday in France.

Strasbourg

Pretty and cosmopolitan, Strasbourg is a cultural haven, and a must-visit if passing through Alsace. You can feel the taste of Europe in so much of the city, from the European Parliament to the Franco-German TV network which bases itself here, and it's this welcoming international feel that makes Strasbourg such a great place to wander around. On top of that it has some splendid restaurants, cafes and excellent museums - all great ways to punctuate visits to the towering cathedral and old city. Just make sure that you're not looking for accommodation here when European Parliament is in session - you may need to look elsewhere in France for a hotel!

Paris

Paris really needs no introduction, and is the first call on most luxury holidays in France. The best thing about it is that it can be so many different things to so many different people - it's a shopping wonderland, a cultural epicentre, an architect's dream and the best place in the world to enjoy a gourmet meal. It's also got more iconic buildings and landmarks than many entire countries manage! All of these elements combine to ensure that Paris is the best city to visit in France, if you've somehow managed to miss it so far.

No doubt many people will disagree with my list, because a luxury holiday in France offers so many different things to different people. Whether you feel others should have been included or not, one thing is certain: all five of these places are well worth any tourist's time. Consider this list when you book a hotel in France, and the luxury holiday you have will be truly memorable.

Kieron Sellens is the marketing manager of the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AiTO). With an AITO holiday in France, you can tailor-make the dream holiday - whether you want piste pleasure or family fun.

Where Are You Going This Valentine's Day?

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 133px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_3KDWDzoXVUw/SUFh2ZbvL4I/AAAAAAAAAQc/VDI0PS684bo/s320/couplecountryside.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5278607825422987138" />
By Paul Mcindoe

Valentine's Day is undoubtedly the most romantic day of the year. And what better excuse is there for taking a night or two away from it all and perhaps even surprising your partner in the process?

As far as the men are concerned, booking a romantic meal at a quiet location can prove a wonderful way to treat the woman in your life. In addition, if you choose to surprise her with a romantic break, you could call ahead and ask for some champagne and chocolates to be left in the room for your arrival. She's sure to appreciate every little detail like this!

But the great thing is that you don't need to go too far afield to enjoy a night away from home for Valentine's. In fact, from doing a bit of research you may find that there are suitable locations for a break close by that won't take more than an hour or two to get to. That way you will have more time to enjoy your time away, rather than spending it on the motorway, which can spoil even the most well planned break, no matter how nice the venue itself might be.

If you manage to find somewhere really romantic, you could even keep the hotel itself as a surprise. Women love to be pampered and taken care of, so if you merely say you are going out for a meal (having smuggled an overnight bag in the car first of course) you can keep the surprise of the room until later on.

But the best part about staying away from home for Valentine's is simply that you will be able to spend some quality time together. And if you have busy working lives then this becomes even more important, as you can both wind down and enjoy each other's company.

Of course you won't want to stay in your hotel room for the duration of your time away. Plan to stay somewhere that is picturesque and charming if you can, and if you decide to plan a short getaway together, remember that you can still surprise your other half if you put some prior thought into it. Indeed, a woman might appreciate tickets to see a romantic film for example, whereas a man might enjoy having the chance to visit some kind of sporting occasion. Either way, make sure you pick activities that you will both enjoy in some way.

In the end, whether you keep it a secret or not, romantic breaks can really enhance your relationship and provide a romantic getaway from your normal everyday lives. And the best time to start thinking about it is now; leaving you plenty of time to plan the perfect surprise.

Paul McIndoe writes for a digital marketing agency.
